Reagan National (DCA) is the closest and sits on the Metro Blue/Yellow line - roughly 15–20 minutes to downtown. Dulles (IAD) connects via the Silver line but allow an hour. BWI in Maryland is cheapest to fly into and connects by MARC/Amtrak to Union Station.
Metro is the fastest way between the Convention Center, Capitol Hill and the Wharf. Buy a SmarTrip card or add it to your phone wallet. Rideshare surges hard between 9 PM and 2 AM when receptions and parties let out - build that into your budget.
CBC Week runs on overlapping schedules. Stack two or three events in the same quadrant (Downtown/Mount Vernon, Navy Yard/Wharf, U Street/Shaw) instead of crossing town between each one.
Official CBC events on Capitol Hill and at the Convention Center may require conference registration or a separate RSVP. Invite-only receptions need a confirmed name on the list - request access at least a day ahead.
Mid-September in DC is warm and humid by day, cooler at night. Business or business-cocktail carries most days; evening rooms lean elevated. Comfortable shoes matter - you will walk between venues.
Panels start close to on time; receptions and parties rarely do. Arrive early for open-bar receptions and free events with capacity limits, and expect lines at anything marked Featured or VIP.
